How is the penis similar to the clitoris?

Female Erections

The clitoris is biologically equivalent to the penis. Therefore, male and female erections and orgasms are very similar. Behind the clitoral tip -- which is equivalent to the head of the penis -- is what is called the “clitoral stem.” In females, the parasympathetic nervous system causes vasodilatation of the arteries into the female erectile tissues found in the clitoris and the region around the vaginal entrance. Because of vasodilatation, the blood supply to these tissues increase and they swell. This is the female erection.
